LEADERS, INDIES & BARRISTERS

Q1 2025 RESULTS

Welcome to the latest Leaders, Indies & Barristers edition of Legal LinkedInfluencers, spotlighting the voices shaping the legal profession from the boardroom, the courtroom, and the kitchen table.

These groups would struggle to compete with the main Top 100 on Power Score alone, but when they do post, many of their voices resonate far beyond what the data might suggest.

Among law firm leaders, few posted regularly in Q1 – only 1 in 5 showed up at all. But those who did, like Jo Farmer and Walied Soliman, proved the power of authentic, visible leadership. When senior voices are warm, consistent and human, they don’t just support the firm’s message – they become it.

Independent lawyers continue to lead with personality over polish. Without teams or strategies behind them, they’re posting on real-life topics – from parenting and property law to mental health and quiet leadership. The result? Relevance, reach and refreshing honesty.

At the Bar, it wasn’t volume that cut through – it was voice. From KCs to juniors, barristers shared with purpose, principle and vulnerability. They weren’t just posting about the law – they were showing us what it means. We also honour the late Jonathan Easton KC, whose bravery and openness touched the profession deeply.

Across all three groups, influence came not from algorithms or titles – but from showing up and sounding like yourself.

Here’s to the leaders who lead out loud, the indies who keep it real, and the barristers making the Bar more human.

The methodology

If it ain’t broke, why fix it? So nothing’s changed on the scoring front.

We find the top voices from barristers, law firm leaders, and independent lawyers on LinkedIn and we count all their likes and comments. We asked firms for their people and some provided us with some names. The rest, we researched ourselves. There’s no value judgment in it.

We add the likes to four times the comments – just like LinkedIn’s algorithm does – to give each post a power score.

We then tot up the total Power Score for the quarter (1 January to 31 March) and rank everyone.

Simple but effective.

Anyone, anywhere, can work out these stats for their own performance if they download their LinkedIn data and email it to us.
