Simon Marshall

Founder

Simon provides TBD’s clients with fresh ideas and best practice in a range of different marketing disciplines. He is also a LinkedIn expert and delivers training to legal professionals on how to use the platform to build their personal brand and professional network. 

Prior to setting up TBD in 2018, Simon held senior marketing positions at six leading law firms, ranging from Simmons & Simmons, Osborne Clarke and Burges Salmon LLP to one of the world’s largest international law firms, Dewey Ballantine. He ran the insurance sector at Dewey Ballantine, a white shoe US law firm equivalent to a UK magic circle firm, and ran a sector group which brought in $400m in revenue. 

He has deep experience of communications, marketing and business development, marketing strategy, campaign planning and interim CMO work.

Jemma Crutchlow-Porter

Business Manager

Jemma is responsible for managing TBD’s day-to-day operations and ensures that everything runs seamlessly.

Thanks to her time at TBD, Jemma now has over five years’ experience of working in the legal marketing sector, having started her career in administrative roles for the Welsh Assembly Government and the NHS before moving into content writing and digital marketing and subsequently discovering that she prefers running businesses to operating in them.

Her typical responsibilities at TBD include updating the agency’s business plan and executing against it, writing proposals and pitches, project management, managing junior team members, marketing planning, organising events, handling sponsorships, and building and managing the agency’s CRM system.

Claire Farrelly

Senior Legal Marketing Expert

With over 25 years of experience working in professional services marketing, 11 of them as Head of Marketing and Business Development at top-100 law firm Forsters, Claire has a proven track record as a legal services marketing and BD expert.

Prior to joining Forsters, Claire spent four years at Savills where she was Head of Business Development for two year. She played a key role in growing the business through strategic pitching and amplifying the reputation of its leading transactional and management teams. 

Claire helps our clients with marketing strategy, pitch development, business development and marketing communications. She also provides her comprehensive legal marketing expertise as part of our Interim CMO service for boutique to medium-sized law firms.

Charlie is our digital marketing expert and a true polymath when it comes to leveraging the power of the digital realm to help our clients transform their businesses.

SEO auditing; website builds, updates, migrations, strategies and security systems; content creation; monthly KPI reporting; lead generation; and much more: Charlie does it all with profound insight and expertise, built up over 15 years working with over 200 companies spanning all sectors. It’s his passion to make our clients’ websites and digital marketing their best source of new business for them.

Head of Content & PR

Sophie heads up TBD’s PR team and delivers communications and media expertise to some of the UK’s top-ranked law firms.

She is an experienced PR professional with a nose for the best news angles. Her portfolio includes managing media relations for some of the UK’s leading charities. She holds a first-class Bachelor’s degree in Journalism News from The University of Salford.

Her clients love the fact that she gets them increased levels of national and broadcast coverage, as well as trade and regional coverage.

Matt is a CIPR Accredited Public Relations Practitioner and award-winning senior marketing manager.

He has a proven ability for strategic thinking and problem solving having worked at a senior level for several professional services firms in various ‘Head of’ roles. During the last 20 years, Matt has had direct experience of marketing to private clients, corporates, professional practices and non-profit organisations.

Chloe is a highly experienced data analysis expert who helps our clients to understand and improve the performance of their digital presence. 

She is extremely adept at delving into website data, social media data, SEO data and pay-per-click data to provide clients with richly detailed insights, presented in highly intuitive and visually engaging reports, dashboards and action recommendations.

Designer

Marc works with our clients to produce content that engages their target audience and drives action. He does this through strategic integrated advertising campaigns across print, digital and social media. 

After graduating from Miami Ad School, where he had stints at global advertising agencies including JWT, TBWA and McCann, Marc moved to London and started his career as a copywriter and branding expert. In 2022, the ForThe100 campaign asked Mark to create their website and branding.

Senior Copywriter

David is responsible for writing compelling and engaging content for our clients’ blogs, newsletters, websites and other marketing materials.

After graduating with a First Class Bachelor’s degree in German and English from the University of Oxford and obtaining a Master’s degree in Translation and Professional Language Skills from the University of Bath, he has spent the last 15 years honing his craft as a freelance language services provider, including marketing and PR translations as well as copywriting and editing.

PR Assistant

Jacob assists Sophie, our Head of Content and PR, in working together with our clients to forge their traditional and social media strategy and get them the press coverage and impressions they deserve.

Despite his youth, Jacob has already gained plenty of hands-on PR experience, helping to launch the 100 Black Interns project and with his work on the ForThe100 campaign.

Jacob’s PR and social media work has been featured on LinkedIn for Nonprofits, and he has already become a sought-after guest speaker on podcasts and at business conferences including Elite Business Live.

Admin Assistant

Chloe graduated from University of Westminster with a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Journalism. She has a wealth of experience working in administrative and support roles and will be using those skills to support the team here at TBD.
