Commercialising our curiosity - AI training for lawyers and legal marketers
AI training for lawyers and legal marketers

From curious
to capable.

Two days that take lawyers and legal marketers from "I should probably look into this" to building AI tools they actually use at their desk. No slides about the future of law. No vendor demos from people who have never billed a client. Just two practitioners who use AI every day, showing you how they do it.

Hold a place
For lawyers

You know AI is coming. You are not sure what to do about it.

Every managing partner has read the articles. Every associate has quietly used ChatGPT on a Friday afternoon when nobody was looking. The problem is not awareness. It is the enormous gap between "we are looking at AI" and a lawyer who has actually built something useful with it.

  • How to use AI on real matters and explain it to clients with confidence
  • Ethical obligations, transparency frameworks and what good disclosure looks like
  • Drafting assistants, research tools and document review workflows you build yourself
  • How to navigate IT, compliance and risk committees without losing the will to live
  • What the firms six months ahead of you are actually doing differently
  • You leave Day Two with a working tool. Not a demo. Something you made.
ML
Matthew Letts Solicitor and legal technology specialist. Lawyer to lawyer.
For legal marketers

You are already using AI. You are not yet using it to win work.

You have found the shortcuts. Content moves faster. Decent enough. But saving time on a task is not the same as building a system that changes how your BD function works. That is a different thing entirely. This programme builds the second one.

  • Where AI creates real competitive differentiation in legal marketing and BD
  • Competitor monitoring dashboards you build yourself and run every day
  • Pitch generation and directory submission workflows that save days, not hours
  • Content repurposing pipelines that multiply every piece of work you produce
  • BD intelligence tools your firm's partners will actually ask to use
  • You leave Day Two with a workflow that saves time permanently. Not just once.

The problem worth solving

The legal sector does not have an awareness problem with AI. It has a doing problem.

The managing partner "We're investing in AI." Nobody in the room can tell you what that means in practice. The gap between saying it and doing it is getting wider every week.
The associate Quietly using ChatGPT on a Friday afternoon. Getting no credit. Building no systems. Staying curious and going precisely nowhere.
The legal marketer Writing content a bit faster. Still waiting for someone to give them permission to build the tools that would genuinely change how the BD function works.

Most AI training makes this worse. Either it is slides about the future of law from someone who has never billed a client, or a generic tech demo from people who do not understand how legal professionals actually work. Neither moves anyone forward. This does.

The programme

Morning knowledge. Afternoon build. Repeat.

Both days follow the same shape: morning sessions build the knowledge, afternoons put it straight into practice. We run the two days with a gap between them so delegates can experiment, try things, and come back to Day Two with sharper questions. That peer learning moment at the start of Day Two — "what did you build?" — is often the most valuable part of the whole programme.

1
Day one
Foundations
Tuesday 1 July
Morning - 9:00 to 12:30

The knowledge

  • Why AI, why now. The regulatory and competitive pressures that make this unavoidable for law firms
  • Understanding the technology as a practitioner. What a model actually is. What it is not. Why that matters for your work
  • The model landscape: Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot and the legal-specific tools. We are opinionated. We will tell you what we use and why
  • How to make the case internally to IT, compliance and risk without losing the will to live
  • Track-specific session: the client conversation (lawyers) or the competitive advantage (marketers)
Hackathon
Afternoon - 13:30 to 17:00

You build something. Today.

  • Dedicated Claude access for every delegate. No firm IT approvals needed. We handle it
  • Bring your own use case or pick from our library of challenges built for your role
  • Matthew or Simon on hand throughout to guide, troubleshoot and push thinking further
  • You leave having built something. Not watched someone else build something. There is a difference
2
Day two
Advanced
Tuesday 15 July
Morning - 9:00 to 12:30

Going deeper

  • What did you build? Peer learning from what worked, what failed and what surprised you. This is usually the best part
  • From single prompts to connected systems: workflows that save time repeatedly, not just once
  • Advanced techniques: custom instructions, structured outputs, multi-step reasoning, working with documents and data
  • How to measure what AI is saving you and communicate that to partners, clients and leadership
Advanced hackathon
Afternoon - 13:30 to 17:00

Build something worth keeping

  • Something ambitious. A working prototype that solves a real problem in your daily work
  • We work with each delegate individually to scope something genuinely useful. Not a toy. Not a demonstration
  • Every person leaves with a finished product and the confidence to keep building
  • This is the commercial bit. This is where curiosity starts paying for itself
What you will actually build

Not a demo. Something you made.

Bring your own use case or pick from our library of challenges built for your role. Either way, you leave with something that works at your desk on Wednesday morning. That distinction matters more than anything else in this programme.

Who you learn from

Both of us build with AI every day. That matters more than credentials.

We are not theorists. We are not conference speakers who discovered AI last year. We use these tools to run our businesses, serve our clients and produce the work that keeps the lights on. That is the only reason either of us is qualified to run this programme.

Lawyers track

Matthew Letts

Solicitor, legal technology specialist and one of LinkedIn's most prominent independent voices on AI in law. Matthew has built his reputation by cutting through the noise and showing lawyers what actually works — not in theory, but in practice, on real matters, for real clients. His legal technology business sits at the intersection of legal practice and AI implementation. He uses these tools daily. He speaks lawyer to lawyer about ethical obligations, client disclosure and what good practice looks like right now.

Legal marketers track

Simon Marshall

Founder of TBD Marketing, a legal sector agency with over two decades working exclusively with law firms. Simon advises firms on brand, positioning and commercial growth. He does not talk about AI theoretically. He uses it to run his agency, serve his clients and produce the work that keeps the lights on. Marketer to marketer, he brings the kind of commercial credibility that no tech vendor or conference speaker can match. Because he is doing it. Not describing it.

First cohort: 1 and 15 July 2025

The lawyers who lead on AI will not be the ones who read the most articles.

They will be the ones who built something on a Thursday afternoon and could not stop thinking about what else they could build. We are here to create that moment. And then make sure it pays.

Twenty places. First cohort on 1 and 15 July. Interested in an exclusive firm programme? Get in touch.
