LinkedIn is not a reputational accessory. It is a distribution mechanism for expertise, a trust accelerator and, in measurable cases, a contributor to revenue.

Why this report matters.

This report draws on findings from the February 2026 Legal LinkedInfluencer Survey, completed more than 150 times, drawn from a defined population of 1,150 people who feature in the Legal LinkedInfluencer rankings.

Respondents span the UK’s largest 250 law firms, major barristers’ chambers and independent practices. Between them, they have written thousands of posts and won millions of pounds of business via the platform.

The aim is simple: to replace assumption with evidence, and to examine LinkedIn as a business development channel rather than a reputational accessory.

The approach

The survey was completed more than 150 times by respondents drawn from a defined population of 1,150 people who feature in the Legal LinkedInfluencer rankings.

Participants were asked to assess LinkedIn’s impact across revenue generation, networking efficiency, career progression and internal culture using structured 0–10 scales. They were also invited to explain, in their own words, how LinkedIn activity translates into tangible business outcomes.

We already track and rank these individuals quarterly, measuring consistency and engagement across practice areas and firm types. This survey extends that perspective beyond profile and into commercial consequence.

Prospective clients regularly reference posts before our first meeting. It changes the tone immediately.

It's about being in people's minds, so when they get that issue, I'm the one they think of first. I have won several clients on the back of my own posting.

At conferences, introductions are warmer because people feel they already know how you think.

I have obtained over £100,000 of work from the platform and it's been amazing for me.

It is easier to demonstrate expertise consistently online than to rely on occasional in-person exposure.

So many new clients, contacts and opportunities that I would never have had had I not been brave enough to start posting.
