PATMA EDITION

2025/26 RESULTS

Welcome to the first PATMA edition of Legal LinkedInfluencers.

For this report, we looked at the increased use of LinkedIn across the trade mark and patent attorney profession, in the UK, the US, Canada, mainland Europe, and into Asia.

The IP community sees each other in person for one week a year, in the corridors of INTA and AIPPI. The other fifty-one weeks are spent trying to remain front of mind with clients, referrers, and peers. For a growing number of attorneys, LinkedIn is where that work now happens.

This is not a profession that shouts.

Discretion and confidentiality sit at the heart of the work, and the attorneys who rank here have found a way to honour that while still building a public presence that allows people to find them when new mandates are ready to go out.

That balance is one professionals are well placed to make — because they make the same judgement in their daily lives around client work.

What is clear from the data is that the rewards are disproportionate for those who do post. Profile gains, easier real-life networking, referrals that would not have existed otherwise. The attorneys in this report have already worked that out.

We checked 16,666 attorneys across seven major IP jurisdictions. We counted 76,943 posts. The top 200 attorneys in this report collectively created an estimated $862,000 of advertising value over the past year.

The case for getting on the platform is not complicated. And if you are ready to start, get some training first — it will make a material difference to how quickly and how well you benefit.
